Hainz, Steven Carl (13 July 1973 - 29 April 2011)

Steve Hainz, 37, of Neillsville died Friday, April 29, 2011, at his home.

Steven Carl Hainz was born July 13, 1973, in Neillsville, the son of Ronald and Gloria (Northup) Hainz.  He attended Neillsville Public Schools and graduated from Neillsville High School in 1991.  After graduation Steve started his own canned milk hauling business for the Amish community.  He later sold that business to Joe Struensee.  Then, in 1997, Steve bought the bulk milk route from Jerry Anderegg, which he was currently operating.  Along with hauling milk, Steve also co-owned The Mug Tavern in Greenwood with his brother, Dean, from 1995 to 1997 and raised beef cattle on his home farm.  He was united in marriage to Kelly Lewis Aug. 20, 2005, in Greenwood.

Steve excelled in track and field in high school, setting what was then the school record in the 400-and the 800-meter races.  He was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed taking trips out west to hunt.  He also enjoyed snowmobiling and shooting pool.

He is survived by his wife, Kelly; two stepsons, Cody L. Garlach and Dustin S. Garlach, both of Neillsville; parents,  Ronald H. and Gloria Hainz of Neillsville; a sister, Sherri Hainz, and three brothers: Ronnie Lee (Sandra Stewart) Hainz, Howie (Carla) Hainz, and Dean (Heather) Hainz, all of Neillsville; his paternal grandmother, Lulu Hainz of Neillsville; and many nieces and nephews, Bryan Jensen, Jason, Justin and Joshua Hainz, Jordan Gee, Keith, Kari, Jamie, Candie, Heavyn and Degan Hainz and Dylan, Justin and Tyson McDonald.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents and his paternal grandfather.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Gesche Funeral home.  A luncheon will follow at Degan’s Sports Zone in Neillsville.
