Ross, Marie (1 OCT 1960)

Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford, was the scene of a beautiful wedding on Saturday, Oct. 1, 1960, when Marie Antoinette Ross became the bride of William Roger Doberstein.

The Rev. Trincka officiated at the 10:00 a.m. service which united the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur A. Ross, Medford, and son of Mrs. Randy Doberstein, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.).

The bride wore a traditional bridal gown of rosepoint hand clipped lace and nylon tulle over nylon net and white faille taffeta in popular floor length.  The molded bodice of the lovely gown carved to a V at the center of the waistline was styled with a scalloped scoop neckline embroidered with iridescent sequins and seed pearls.  The long lace sleeves tapered to points over the wrists where they were secured with dainty lace covered buttons.  The beautifully detailed overskirt of lace having a scalloped border to V point sides over tiers of ruffled tulle and lace to the floor.  She wore a fingertip veil with seed pearls and iridescent sequins and carried a bridal bouquet of red roses with white satin streamers.  For jewelry the bride chose crystal drop necklace and earrings.

Miss Patty Ross, sister of the bride of Madison, served as maid of honor.  The bridesmaids were Mrs. Evelyn Nelson, Withee, a cousin of the groom’s, Mrs. Charlotte Wilson, Hermansville, Mich., cousin of the groom’s, and Miss Mary Doberstein, Owen, sister of the groom.  They wore identically styled ballerina length gowns of nylon sheer with blending embroidery cascades over taffeta in beige with toast embroidery.  The fitted bodices with the cascade embroidery had scoop necklines and short sleeved.  Cummerbunds of toast taffeta came to a panel at the back.  The full skirt of nylon sheer over taffeta also had the embroidery cascades.  They wore straw clip bands with rolled silk organza petals and pearl spike centers with halo veils in toast.  Their shoes, also, were in matching toast color.  As a gift from the bride, they wore drop pearl earrings.  The bridesmaids’ bouquets were bronze mums and gold satin ribbons.

The groom’s attendants were Sam Nelson, Withee, a cousin of the groom, Carroll Ross and Jim Ross, Medford, the bride’s brothers, and Ronnie Frahman of Curtiss.

The reception was held at the V.F.W. Hall at Medford which served 165 guests to an evening dinner.  A dance was held at the Dorchester Memorial Hall in the evening.

The bride and the groom are both graduates of the Medford High School.

Out of town guests attending the wedding were from Milwaukee, Madison, Minneapolis, Chilton, Almenia, Abbotsford, Dorchester, Withee, Owen, Michigan and Neillsville.

After a week of honeymooning in northern Wisconsin, the couple will make their home in Owen where the groom operates the Soo Café.
