Hagen, Ada (3 APR 1899 - 28 AUG 1960)

 

Mrs. Sam Hagen, route 3, Stanley, and a former resident of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), passed away at 11:30 on Sunday at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, after a lingering illness.

 

The former Ada Wolters was born on April 3, 1899 in Fall River, Wis., the daughter of the late August and Margaret Wolters.  At the age of six months she moved with her parents to rural Withee.  She married Sam Hagen in Chippewa Falls, June 23, 1931, and they farmed in the vicinity of Wolter’s Corners until 1958, when they moved to their present home near Stanley.

 

She was a member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Withee, and the American Legion Auxiliary of Post 118 in Thorp.  For 35 years she was an active member of the former Wolter’s Corner Ladies Aid.

 

Left to mourn are her husband, two brothers, Hugo Wolters of Withee, and Edward Wolters of Spokane, Wash.; three sisters, Mrs. Oscar (Viola) Christenson of Stanley, Mrs. Lily Mann of Beaver Dam and Mrs. Bertha Ewing of Whitewater.  She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters.

 

Funeral services were held at the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Withee with the Rev. Beryl Knudsen officiating, at 2:00 o’clock in the afternoon Wednesday.  Interment was made at Riverside Cemetery at Withee.

 

Serving as pallbearers were Harold Hodnett, Henry Hodnett, George Spaeth, Fred Biddle, Arnie Anderson and Walter Emerson.  The nieces were in charge of the floral offerings.
