Barrett, James (25 OCT 1879 - 24 JUN 1960)

 

James Byron Barrett, a pioneer resident of the Town of Hoard (Clark Co., Wis.), passed away suddenly shortly after noon last Friday when he was stricken with a heart attack while at home.

 

Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 o’clock Monday, June 27 from the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home.  The Rev. Donald Olson, Curtiss, officiated with burial being made at Pine Hill Cemetery, Curtiss.  Pallbearers were Charles Jennings, William Pape, Bert Eberts, ed Klug, Ted Stegeman and Julius Johnson.  In charge of the floral offerings were Mesdames Ed Klug, Ray Dearth, Leonard Simons and Al Hardrath.

 

James Byron Barrett was 80 years and 8 months of age, being born Oct. 25, 1879 at Kingsman, Ariz. Territory.  On Aug. 11, 1908, he and Lola Lillian Cushman were united in marriage at Rock Island, Ill.  Shortly after their marriage the couple moved to their present home two miles north of Owen on Country Trunk DD.

 

In addition to his widow, his passing is mourned by a sister, Mrs. Earl (Ida) Schopfer, Moline, Ill.; two sons, Rolland, Aberdeen, Wash., and James of Owen; six daughters, Mrs. Ted (Iris) Whitbeck, Burton, Wash., Mrs. H. (Opal) Peissig, Curtiss, Mrs. Carl (Juanita) Pedersen, Loyal, Mrs. Emil (Mary) Luchterhand, Unity, Mrs. Verne (Beatrice) Hansen, owen, and Mrs. Ted (Barbara( Aker, Medford; 17 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.  One son, Bryce, was lost in action over Germany in World War II.
