Johnson, Christ (19 NOV 1896 - 13 JUN 1960)

 

Christ O. Johnson, 63, 821 Miles St. Chippewa Falls, died at 12:05 p.m. Monday at his home.

 

He was born Nov. 19, 1896 at Perth Amboy, N.J.  He moved to Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) with his parents in 1900.  He retired as conductor Jan. 1, 1958, after working for the Soo Line Railroad for 48 years.  He was a veteran of World War K.  He moved to Chippewa Falls in 1944.

 

He was a member of the Central Lutheran Church; Chippewa Falls Masonic Lodge 176, F. & A.M.; Chippewa Chapter 46, R.A.M.; the Chippewa Council; Tancred Commandery 27, Knights Templar, and Ancient Accepted Scottish Rites, 32nd degree, Valley of Eau Claire; Zor Shrine, Chippewa Shrine Club; Cornell Consistory Club; Order of the eastern Star 112; Order of the Amarath, Luella F. Nuhus Court No. 1, of which he is chairman of the trustees.  Also he was a member of the White Shrine of Eau Claire; was past Associate Guardian of Jobs Daughters; member of the Knights of Pythias; American Legion Post 97; Brotherhood of Trainmen; Order of Railway Conductors.

 

Surviving are his wife, Myrtle, and two sisters, Mrs. Barney Myerson and Mrs. Frank Grecco, both of Chicago.

 

Services were held at 2:00 p.m. yesterday at the Central Lutheran Church, the Rev. S. Philip Froiland officiating.  Burial was made in the Riverside Cemetery at Withee.
