Ziemendorf, Lloyd E. (2 APR 1924 - 20 APR 2011)

PITTSVILLE -- Lloyd E. Ziemendorf, 87, of Pittsville died Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2011, at City Point Community Church, with the Rev. Fred Parker Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Sherwood Cemetery.

The family will greet friends from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Buchanan Funeral Home of Pittsville is assisting the family.

Lloyd was born April 2, 1924, in Baraboo, the son of Dewey and Gladys (McConnell) Ziemendorf. He was united in marriage April 4, 1957, in Rockford, Ill., to Frances Barrett.

He attended Baraboo and LaValle schools and attended Pittsville High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1946 on the U.S.S. ARD12, stationed in the Philippines and the South Pacific. He was employed as a machinist and supervisor at Camcar in Rockford, Ill., and later worked construction as a truck driver for J.L. Sullivan and Trierweiler Construction Co.

Lloyd and Frances also owned and operated the Sherwood Store & Bar from 1958 to 1973. They moved to Pittsville in February.

He was a member of City Point Community Church, the Teamsters Union and Tuesday Night Seniors at Bev's Saddle Mound Tap.

Lloyd is survived by his wife, Frances Ziemendorf of Pittsville; three children, Wendy (Mark) Behselich of Pittsville, Robert Ziemendorf of Neillsville, and Steven (Linda) Ziemendorf of Pittsville; five grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, four great-grandchildren and seven great-stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother.

Memorials may be designated to the Palliative Care Unit at Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield or the City Point Community Church.
