Hattery, Arnold  (16 MAR 1912- 29 DEC 1955)

 

Arnold Hattery was born on March 16, 1912 to Anna Sitts Hattery and the late Joseph Hattery. He was 43 years, 9 months, and 12 days old the day his body was discovered at his home in San Diego, California. Death was due to a heart attack.

 

When a boy in Loyal he made his home with Ray Vogel and attended the Loyal Public School.

 

At the age of 15, he decided to enter the U. S.Navy and legally changed his name to James C. White. He remained in the navy for 12 years, and while there he completed a course in Naval Aviation and became a hydraulic engineer. During World War ll he was called back to continue this work in a Navy Aviation plant in San Diego.

 

He is survived by his step-father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Brown, Rice Lake; a brother Ralph Hattery, and a step-sister of Wheeler; and other relatives. His father, a sister, and a brother preceded him in death.

 

Funeral services were held in the Myre Funeral Home, at 10 a.m. Friday January 13, with the Rev. Charles Swanson officiating. Burial was in Pine Grove cemetery.

 

Pallbearers were Ray Vogel, Roy Vogel, Oscar Neeb, Floyd Smith, H. E. Catlin, and Elwin Cook.

 

The hymns "Beyond the Sunset" and "Jesus Lover of My Soul," were sung by Janice Kay Smith and Ruthanne Goehring. Mrs. Bryon Zepp;in was organist.

 

Relatives from away who came to the funeral were Mr. & Mrs. Hiram Brown, Rice Lake, Ralph Hattery, Wheeler, Mr. & Mrs. Milo Sitts, Boscobel, and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Vogel, Wisconsin Rapids.
