Quist, Steffen (1887 - 2 JAN 1959)

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at two o’clock from the Nazareth Lutheran Church, Withee, for Steffen Quist, 71, a lifelong resident of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.).  Rev. W. Clayton Nielsen conducted the service with burial being made in the parish cemetery.

Pallbearers were Walter Blunck, John Blunck, William Blunck, Alfred Frost, Karl Jensen and Harold Williams.  Flower girls were Mrs. Harold Williams and Mrs. Walter Blunck.

Steffen Quist had spent his entire life in the Withee community following the vocation of farming, at which he was quite successful.  For many years he served on the village board of Withee, as well as being a member of the Clark County Board of Supervisors.

Death came to him Friday at the Clark County Hospital where he had been a resident for the past year.  His death followed that of his brother, Hans, by one month, as he passed away Dec. 3, 1958.

He was unmarried and is survived by a sister, Mrs. Atkinson of St. Paul, Minn.; Thorvald Stigsen, a nephew of Withee, and a cousin, Henry Axelsen of Superior.
