Greenwood, Wisconsin (26 October 1961)

 

Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Koschak and daughters visited at Wautoma Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Bobb.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kurtzheim of Milwaukee spent the weekend at the Hugh Severson home.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Orville Schwarze of Waukon, Ia., spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Schwarze. Other guests at the Schwarze home the past week were their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Olson and daughters, who returned to Milwaukee Sunday.

 

Mrs. Ida Horn spent the weekend at the home of Mrs. Norma Ebert at Loyal.

 

The Merry Homemakers met Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Al Volovsek in Willard.  Mrs. John Staut and Mrs. Joe Lesar gave the lesson on "Family Etiquette" followed by a discussion. The next meeting will be held Monday evening, November 6, at the home of Mrs. Lyle Humboldt.  Project leaders will be Mrs. Bernard Walker and Mrs. Victor Halbrader.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Worden has returned after spending a week with his sisters, Mrs. Glenn Van Wie and family in Milwaukee, and Mrs. Peter Turco and family in Waukegan, Ill., and with nieces and nephews in Zion, Ill.  They also called on Lester Berieter family, former Greenwood residents, in Franksville.

 

Pauline Schmitz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Schmitz, entertained 12 classmates recently in celebration of her 13th birthday.  Those present were: Donna Sladich, Kay Klinke, Mary Lindner, (appears some names are not here).

 

Mr. and Mrs. Otto Voie attended the funeral of a relative recently at Scandinavia.

 

Those from Greenwood who attended the wedding of Emery Crowley and Miss Elizabeth Dougherty in Chippewa Falls were his grandfather, Henry Olson, and his uncle and aunts, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Turnquist, Mr. and Mrs Orville Oswald and Gary, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Olson, Sandra, Gerald and Duane, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Turnquist, Alice and Sue, Mr. and Mrs. Lenard Olson and Mr. and Mrs. Delmond Olson. The groom, who is the son of Mrs. Sophie Crowley, formerly of Greenwood, will report for service at Fort Lewis, Wash., October 29.  his bride will be employed as an x-ray technician at the Bloomer Hospital.

 

The Rev. Orval Egbert, Adolph Wesel, Daniel Olson, Edwin Karpinski and Arthur Hendrickson were guests at a meeting held Thursday evening in the Congregational Church at Owen.

 

Quinton Irvine was dismissed Wednesday from the hospital.

 

Neighbors surprised Mrs. Johanna Horvat on Thursday afternoon with a party in observance of her 75th birthday.  They brought baskets of food for the lunch which included a decorated cake. Those present were Mrs. John Vesel, Mrs. Frank, Laken, Mrs. John Verschay, Sr., Mrs. John Kaltinger, Sr., Mrs. John Popovich, Mrs. Frank Parkel, Mrs. Frances Malner, Mrs. Kate Briski and Mrs. Louis Zorman. 

 

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Keiner of Rock Dam visited Friday at the home of his mother, Mrs. Christ Keiner.

 

Mrs. and Clarence Verhulst accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Verhulst of Loyal to Yankton, S. D., where they spent from Friday until Tuesday with another son of Clarence Verhulsts, the Rev. Harold Verhulst.

 

Mr. Myron Kenyon left Thursday for Eau Claire, Mich., to visit (lines cut off).
