Halpin, Thomas P. (11 SEP 1897 - 25 OCT 1955)

 

After an illness of ten years caused by asthma and complications, Thomas Paul Halpin, 58, died at his home at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, 1955.

 

Thomas Paul Halpin, familiarly known as Paul Halpin, was born at South Alma, Sept. 11, 1897.  He received his education at the South Alma School and attended an automobile school in southern Minn.  He followed the trade of automobile mechanic until his illness.

 

He was married to Miss Eleanor Schecklman at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at Alma Center, Nov. 15, 1921.  After his marriage he lived in Milwaukee and Jefferson until 27 years ago, when he moved to Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.) .

 

He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church of Loyal and funeral services were held there at 9:30 a.m. Friday.  The Rev. Father King officiated.  Burial was in the parish cemetery.

 

A general rosary was held at the Myre Funeral Home at 8 p.m. Thursday.  Pallbearers were William McKenna, George Walter, George Bentzler, Jack Schweiger, Albert Meyer, and Richard Miles.

 

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Arthur of Long Beach, Calif., Eugene of Plainfield, and Jerome of Milwaukee; two daughters, Mrs. Duane (Muriel) Cummings, Bancroft, and Mrs. Gerry (Mildred) Humphrey, Milwaukee; seven grandsons and five granddaughters; one sister, Mrs. Lars (Irene) Poulsen, Eagle Rock, Calif.; and one brother, Ted Halpin, Loyal.  One brother preceded him in death.

 

Those from out of town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Duane Cummings and children, Bancroft; Mr. and Mrs. Gene Halpin and daughters, Plainfield; Mr. and Mrs. Gerry Humphrey and sons and Jerry Halpin, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Traxler, Menomonie; Mrs. Dora Hakes, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Cummings and Mrs. George Cummings, Bancroft; Carl Schecklman, Neillsville; Mark Schecklman, Jefferson; and Otto Schecklman, Marshfield.
