Grubofski, Lorraine (1 OCT 1955)

Following their marriage Saturday, Oct. 1, 1955 at Pittsville, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Sladek are on a wedding trip in southern Wisconsin.  On their return, they will make their home at 207 Hinman Ave., Marshfield.  Mr. Sladek is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sladek of Granton (Clark Co., Wis.) , route 1, while his bride, who was Lorraine Susie Grubofski before her marriage, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Grubofski of Pittsville, route 2.

They were married at a 1:30 p.m. ceremony performed at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Pittsville, by the Rev. A.H. Moog.

The bride, present in marriage by her father, wore a scoop neckline edged with sequins on lace with fingertip sleeves and a floor length nylon net ruffled skirt.  A moon shaped headpiece covered with sequins, matching the gown, edged with a ruffled net, secured her fingertip veil.  A necklace of pearls was worn, centered by a rhinestone piece.  She carried a heart shaped bouquet of white carnations centered with a single heart outline of roses.

Serving her sister-in-law as maid of honor, was Mrs. Wallace Grubofski of Pittsville.  She wore a strapless floor length gown of net over taffeta skirt of green with a matching jacket and carried a circular bouquet of tinted red and white carnations.  A cuffed shel net headpiece was worn.  Bridesmaids were Miss Mildred Sladek, sister of the groom, Granton, and Miss Ida Grubofski, sister of the bride, Pittsville.  They wore formals similar to the matron of honor’s, but in gold and carried flowers of tinted green and white.  All wore pearl earrings, a gift from the bride.

Wallace Grubofski, Pittsville, was best man for his sister.  Groomsmen were Carl Grubofski, Pittsville, and Freddie Grubofski, Pittsville, both brothers of the bride.

Ushers were cousins of the bride and groom of Marshfield and Pittsville.

Reception at 4:30 p.m. was served at the Legion Hall at Pittsville.

The groom attended the Loyal High School and served in the U.S. Armed Forces, receiving an honorable discharge in February.  The bride attended the Pittsville High School.

Both are employed at Marshfield, the groom at Roddis Plywood Corp. and his bride at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

The mother of the bride, Mrs. Otto Grubofski, wore a blue dress with tan accessories.  The groom’s mother, Mrs. Sladek, wore an identical purple dress with white accessories.  Identical corsages of white carnations and yellow roses were worn by both.

The out of town guests were from Granton, Loyal, Greenwood, Chili, Neillsville, Spencer, La Crosse, Marshfield, Brookfield, Round Lake and Rockford, Ill., Milwaukee, Wis. Rapids and Minnesota.
