Lee Starkey was born May 1, 1930 at Elyria, Ohio.  When an infant the family moved to Medford and at the age of six years he moved with his parents to Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.) .  Two years later, his mother passed away and he returned to Grafton, Ohio to make his home with a sister, Mrs. Clair Reisinger.

When he was 16 years of age he returned to Loyal, making his home with a sister, Mrs. Arnold Haslow.  He attended high school here, graduating with the class of 1948.  Shortly thereafter he came to the Warner vicinity where he was employed.

In 1951 he entered military service, seeing action in the Korean Theater with the 187th Regimental combat team as a paratrooper.  He was honorably discharged in 1954 and returned to Aberdeen, S.D.  The past year he was a student at Northern States Teacher College in Aberdeen.  Only for the past two or three weeks was he employed by the Northwest Packing Co. as a trucker, during which time he was killed.

Mr. Starkey is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Arnold (Virginia) Haslow, Loyal; Mrs. Al (Mary) Rhone, Detroit, Mich.; Mrs. Clair (Lulu) Reisinger, Grafton, Ohio; Mrs. Walter (Ethel) Miles, Amherst, Ohio; and six brothers, Herbert, Edward and Calvin, all of Bedford, Ohio; Herman of Solon, Ohio; Arthur of Wakman, Ohio, and Roy of Port Clinton, Ohio, besides many nieces and nephews.  His parents preceded him in death.
