S. G. Patey is a patient in the Marshfield hospital, where he is recovering from double pneumonia.  Surgery scheduled for Friday was postponed to a later date depending on Mr. Patey’s condition.  Mrs. Patey is a guest at the Otto Baumbach home near Marshfield and makes daily trips to the hospital.

 

Dr. and Mrs. Kenneth Manz spent the weekend in St. Paul, Minn., and on Sunday, accompanied by their daughter, Mary, a student at Hamline University, attended the opera "La Travita" by the New York Metropolitan Opera company.  They were accompanied to St. Paul, by their son, Peter, who spent the time with friends.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Brown were hosts Saturday evening to 35 guests as a supper given in honor of the graduation of their son, Dennis, from Neillsville High School.  Out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Roy Olson and family, Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Crocker, and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gault and son, Wausau.

 

Mrs. Minda Docker and her sister, Miss Ann Nessit, both of Menomonie, called Saturday at the B. J. Benson home enroute to Appleton.  Mrs. Docker is the mother of Mrs. Alan Howland, the former Peggy Docker who at one time taught home economics in Neillsville High School, and who now resides in Vancouver, Wash.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Al Nelson and family of Faribault, Minn., former Neillsville residents, were weekend house guests at the Pete Smith home.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Haberle have moved into an apartment on Grand Avenue.  The move was made because of the illness of Mr. Haberle, who is confined to his bed.

 

Mrs. Helen Smith, who has been a hospital patient, left Friday with her daughter, Mrs. Edwin Heuer, for Janesville, where she plans an indefinite visit.  Mrs. Heuer spent a week at the Smith home.

 

Every year the Women’s Society of Christian Service of the Methodist Church gives gifs to the young people of the church who will be graduated from high school.  The event was held during services Sunday.  Their choice of a Bible or church hymnal was presented by the Rev. Virgil Holmes to Georgiann Anding, Judy Miller, Bonnie Strangfeld, William Holt and Dennis Brown.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ellerson and children of Madison were weekend guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harland Kintzele.  Mr. Ellerson returned Sunday to Madison, whole Mrs. Ellerson and children are spending a week here.

 

Bill Ormond, Milwaukee, spent the weekend with friends and relatives here.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Bardeleben have moved into the home they recently purchased from Robert Boness.  Mr. Boness has taken a room at the hotel.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Karl entertained Sunday in honor of their son, Robert, who was confirmed Sunday in the United Church of Christ by the Rev. Frank B. Harcey.  Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Gus DeMert, sponsors, and Dennis De Mert, Mrs. Lena Northup, Mrs. Agnes Karl and Anna St. Claire.

 

A wedding dance and shower was held Saturday evening in the American Legion Hall honoring Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Davis, who were married a week ago in Stevens Point.

 

Mrs. Margaret Bruley is recovering in the Stanley Hospital from injuries sustained in a fall.  Mrs. Bruley, a long-time resident of (lines missing) .
