Mandel, Barbara (27 JULY 1881-16 MARCH 1953)
Mrs. Barbara Mandel, 71, died at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Chippewa Falls, at 8:30 a.m. March 16.
Mrs. Mandel, nee Barbara Brecter was born in Switzerland, July 27, 1881. She came with her parents to America when five years old. The family settled at Vesper. Later they moved to the town of Beaver where she lived until her marriage to David Mandel, Nov. 4, 1900, at Unity. They continued to live in the town of Beaver where her husband operated a Cheese factory. After her husband died, Mrs. Mandel continued to operate the factory until 1929.
In later years she made her home with her son, Alfred Mandel. She was visiting her son Leo Mandel, at Boyd, when, on Feb. 28, she broke a leg and was taken to the Chippewa Hospital.
She is survived by three sons, Alfred, Loyal; Leo, Boyd; and Arnold, Princeton, Ill., eight grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Frank Brecker, Loyal, and Adolph Brecker, Owen; and two sisters, Mrs. Edward Klessig, Stanley, and Mrs. Henry Awe, Owen.
Two sisters preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 at the Myre Funeral Home and burial will be in the Beaver Cemetery. F. W. Petran of Appleton who is from the Pastoral Bible Institute of New York will be the speaker.
