Mittlestedt, Lester E. (7 MAY 1894 - 7 MAR 1962)

 

Funeral services for Lester E. Mittlestedt, 66, who suffered a fatal heart attack while on First Street on Wednesday, March 7, 1962, were held Saturday afternoon at the Polnaszek Funeral Home.  The Rev. Milford Gilbert of Colby officiated at the 2 o’clock services.  Military rites were conducted under the auspices of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Knaack-Thompson Post No. 865, assisted byt eh Colby post, which furnished the firing squad.

 

Pallbearers for the interment made in the Colby Cemetery were all members of the V.F.W. post: Lyle Underwood, Fred Ridderbusch, George Kelley, Fred Ridderbusch, George Kelley, Ralph Bargenquast, Don "Butch" Ingersoll and Leo Apfelbeck.

 

Mr. Mittlestedt was born May 7, 1894 in Beaver Dam.  He was a veteran of World War I and served in Company B, 10th infantry, in France.  He was also a sergeant in the local National Guard unit at one time.

 

He lived in Abbotsford for many years.

 

Mr. Mittlestedt, who never married, is survived by two brothers, Earl Mittlestedt of Billings, Mont., and Sylvester Mittlestedt of Abbotsford, and a sister, Mrs. Mae Mead of Milwaukee.

 

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
