Laabs, Judy (2 DEC 1961)

Marriage vows were repeated at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church between Miss Judy Laabs of Curtiss (Clark Co., Wis.) and Richard A. Goff of Tomah, Saturday morning Dec. 2, 1961.  The Rev. Raymond B. Schulz read the double ring service at 11 o’clock.

Parents of the bridal couple are Mr. and Mrs. Orville Laabs of Curtiss and Mrs. Francis Clay of Beaver Dam, and the late Lyle E. Goff.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a ballerina length gown of lace over taffeta.  The molded princess bodice featured a dropped waistline, modified scoop neckline and brief sleeves.  The full circular skirt was accented by a satin bow and streamers at the waistline.  Her shoulder length veil of English silk illusion was secured to a satin Dior bow.  She carried a crescent bouquet of yellow roses and white pompons.

Miss Beth Brunkhorst was the maid of honor.  She wore a gown of apricot capuchin nylon organza over taffeta with a fitted bodice styled with a modified scoop neckline and three-quarter length sleeves.  The street length bell shaped skirt was enhanced with tiny self-bows.  A crown of iridescent sequins and a halo veil and satin slippers, the same color as the dress, completed her ensemble.  She carried a cascade bouquet of different shades of fall pompons.

Mrs. Jerry Goff, a sister-in-law of the groom, was attired in a blue dress and wore a shoulder corsage of red roses.

Jeff Hills of St. Charles, Ill. was best man, and Bob Bartlett of Tomah was groomsman.

Alan Noth of Marshfield and Larry Rands of Milwaukee seated the guests at the church.

To her daughter’s wedding, Mrs. Laabs wore a green suit dress with a metallic hat and had a corsage of yellow roses like those in the bridal bouquet.

Mrs. Clay, mother of the groom, chose a blue dress accented by a corsage of red roses and white feathered hat.

Mrs. Minnie Sutherland of Tomahawk, adopted grandmother of the bride, wore a printed dress and had a corsage of pink and white carnations.

Two baskets of white gladioli and fall pompons were used in the church decorations for the ceremony.

A twelve o’clock dinner was served in the church hall and a reception from 2 to 5 o’clock was held at the home of the bride’s parents.  The new Mr. and Mrs. Goff greeted friends at an evening reception at the American Legion Hall at Tomah from 8 to 12 o’clock.

Guests at the wedding were from Curtiss, Abbotsford, Tomah, Beaver Dam, Kenosha, Milan, Tomahawk, Wausau, Warrens, Oakdale, Madison, Milwaukee, Owen, Colby, Waunakee, Marshfield, and St. Charles, West Chicago and Geneva, Ill.

The bride is a 1961 graduate of the Abbotsford High School and attended the Madison School of Business.  The groom is a graduate of Tomah High School.
