Gauerke, Sharon M. (30 SEP 1961)

The First Presbyterian Church at Abbotsford was the scene of the wedding of Miss Sharon Marie Gauerke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Gauerk, and Dale A. Bluhm, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bluhm Jr. of Stratford, which took place Saturday afternoon, Sept. 30, 1961, at 2 o’clock.  Mr. Gauerke presented his daughter in marriage and the Rev. Lawrence Faivre officiated.  Mrs. Faivre was the organist and Mrs. William Henke sang "The Lord’s Prayer" and "I Love You Truly."

For her wedding, the bride chose a floor length gown of clipped rose point lace.  The bodice had a scalloped Sabrina neckline trimmed with iridescent sequins and the long sleeves came to points over the wrist.  The bouffant skirt of lace over skirts of nylon tulle net and taffeta was caught up at the front by a lace cabbage rose.  A queen’s crown of lace, pearls and crystal held her fingertip veil.  She carried a white Bible on which was place a floral arrangement centered with a white orchid with fuchsia  throat, surrounded by red sweetheart roses and white ribbon streamers with rosebuds attached.

Attending her as matron of honor was Mrs. Delmar Bluhm of Marshfield.  Miss Sharon Bluhm of Stratford was bridesmaid.  They wore orchid taffeta dresses with fitted bodices and scoop neckline.  Bustle bows accented the chiffon over taffeta ballerina length skirts.  They wore matching orchid hats with blusher veils, white accessories and carried nosegays of orchid carnations and white pompons.

Delmar Bluhm was best man and Gerald Gauerke was the groomsman.  James Bluhm of Spencer was usher and candle lighter.

A reception and wedding supper were held at the home of the bride’s parents and a wedding dance was held at Trianon Ballroom.

Following a honeymoon trip to southern Wisconsin, Mr. and Mrs. Bluhm will live at Stratford, route 3.  The groom is a body man at Kann’s Body Shop at Stratford.  The bride is a 1961 graduate of the Abbotsford High School.
