Snyder, Augusta (14 Apr 1837 - 2 Dec 1913)

 

Mrs. Augusta Snyder was born in Germany on April 14, 1837, and died at her home in Neillsville on Dec. 2, 1913.  Her maiden name was Augusta Radke and she came to this country in 1853.  She was united in marriage to Nicholas F. Snyder at Galena, Ill., on Nov. 17, 1855, and five children were born to them.  Mr. Snyder came to Clark County in 1853 in company with Geo. Frantz and he located on the farm which is now known as the Joe Herrian farm just south of this city.  He worked in the woods during the winter and cleared up his farm in the summer and Mrs. Snyder came here at the time of her marriage.  They lived here until the spring of 1877 when they moved to Chariton, Iowa, where Mr. Snyder died.  Since Mr. Snyder’s death, his wife has resided in Neillsville at her home on South Grand Ave.  She is survived by one son and one daughter, August F. Snyder of this city and Mrs. O.D. West of Webster City, Iowa.  Also by one sister, Mrs. John Jones, of Dubuque, Iowa.

 

Mrs. Snyder was a woman of inherent goodness and was loved and esteemed by all her acquaintances.  She has a kindly nature and was a woman of high principles and integrity.  Deceased was buried by the side of her husband at Chariton, Iowa, on Dec. 5th, 1913.
