Mrs. Evelyn Scherer, a former resident of Abbotsford, was killed in a car-truck collision at an intersection about 10 miles northeast of Marshfield in the town of Day, Monday afternoon.

Also killed in the accident was Paul N. Holzer, 29, of rural Auburndale, the driver of the car in which Mrs. Scherer was riding.

Albert Storm, Butternut, the driver of the truck which was loaded with lime, escaped with minor injuries, although he was hospitalized at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.

The collision occurred in the middle of an intersection of the town roads.  Authorities said Mrs. Scherer and Holzer died instantly.

Funeral services for Mrs. Scherer will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Little White Church at Dorchester (Clark Co., Wis.).  Burial will be made in the Dorchester Cemetery.

Mrs. Scherer, the former Evelyn Speck, was born in Abbotsford Sept. 27, 1916, and married Francis Scherer.  She lived in Abbotsford until 1946, when she moved to Dorchester.  She went to Marshfield about a year ago, and was employed in the area, lived weekends with her daughter.

She is survived by the daughter, Mrs. Barbara Mercher; a son, Alan, Nokomis, Fla.; two brothers, Howard Speck, Abbotsford, and Eldred Speck, Denton, Tex.; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Speck, Abbotsford; and two grandchildren.
