Powers, Martha (7 November 1953 - 1 May 1997)

 

Martha Ellen Powers, 43, Owen died on Thursday, May 1, 1997, at St. Joseph’s Hospital Hospice Care in Marshfield.

 

Funeral services were held on Monday, May 5, 1997, 11:00 p.m. at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Withee, with Reverend Paul Petersen officiating.  Burial was in the Nazareth Lutheran Church Cemetery, Withee.  Family and friend served as pallbearers.  Maurina Funeral Home, Owen assisted the family with arrangements.

 

The former Martha Frey was born on November 7, 1953, in Motley, Minnesota, the daughter of Noah and Jemima (Schlabach) Frey.  The family moved to the Town of Longwood to farm.  Martha was a 1972 graduate of Owen-Withee High School.   Martha and Gary Kallberg were married and later divorced. On August 31, 1985, Martha and John Powers were united in marriage at the Nazareth Lutheran Church, Withee.  Martha was employed as a programmer for Weathershield in Medford, Transtar in Waupaca and as a senior program analyst with S & E Enterprise in Mosinee, before she became ill. 

 

Survivors include her husband, John Powers of Owen; three children: Joshua Kallberg of Owen, Garth Kallberg of River Falls, Amanda Kallberg of Fairbanks, Alaska; two step-children: James Powers of Medford, Nicholas Powers of Plymouth; three brothers: Leon Frey of Greenwood, Edward Frey and Clarence Frey both of Ohio; three sisters, Mary Herron of Milford, Ohio, Vera Calloway of Indianapolis, Indiana, Sarah Diamond of Marysville, Ohio, and many nieces and nephews. 

 

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
