Granton, Wisconsin Schools to Open (1 September 1938)

 

The public schools of Granton will reopen on September 6th, at 9 a.m. when grade pupils, sophomores, junior and seniors will enroll and all classes will be organized.

 

Registration day for freshmen will be Saturday, September 3rd at 9 a.m.  A large enrollment is anticipated.

 

The Granton High School offers a complete commercial course in addition to the subjects required by the regular accredited high school. 

 

Progressive opportunities are also provided for in athletics, forensic and music.

 

Mr. Willard Schulz of Monticello, who comes highly recommended in his field, is the new member of the High School faculty.

 

Children of today should realize that the greatest value of an education are its assistance to clear thinking and confidence in oneself, which helps one to meet the problems of life, and gain a better philosophy of living.

 

The personnel is as follows:

 

Supervising Principal - Mr. S. D. Macomber; Science and Music - Willard Schulz; English and Library - Miss Maxine Otis; Social Science and Physical Education - Donald Simmelink; Mathematics, coach - R. Urbans; Commercial - Miss Verna Stricker; 6th, 7th, 8th grades - Mrs. Beatrice Kelly; 3rd, 4th, 5th grades - Mrs. Ora Davis; 1st and 2nd grades - Miss Ila Counsell.
