Cattanach, Wallace "Wayne" (26 May 1920 - 1 January 2011) With flag

 

Wallace "Wayne" Cattanach, 90, of Marshfield, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011, at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

 

Wayne was born May 26, 1920, in the Town of Rock, the son of Raymond and Freda (Knapton) Cattanach.  He graduated from Marshfield High School in 1939.  He served in the City Point CCC from 1940 to 1942.  From January 1943 to December 1945, Sgt. Cattanach enlisted in the U. S. Army-Air Force and proudly served in WWII in the Pacific. Wayne returned to Wisconsin and dairy farmed in the Town of Rock for over 40 years.

 

Wayne was united in marriage to Dorothy Neumann Jan. 6, 1945.  He was married to Ruth Kier (1973), Lorraine Braun (1976), Margaret O’Hearn (1988) and Frances Drescher (2008).

 

Wayne was a long-time member and past Deacon of the Calvary Bible Church in Marshfield.  He was a former leader of the Calvary Bible Church Awana Club, 4-H leader in Lindsey, ASCS Committee member, former school board member of Hillcrest School and Town of Rock Board member for 45 years.

 

Wayne is lovingly survived by his wife, Frances; children, Allan (Nancy) Cattanach, Fargo, ND, Thomas (Joann) Cattanach, Yuma, AZ, Kathleen (Charlie) Weiland, Spencer, David (Janice) Cattanach, Marshfield, Norman Cattanach, Fargo, ND, Brian (Sue) Cattanach, Fargo, ND; and step son, Phil (Angela) Kier, Cottage Grove.  He is further survived by 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Lyle (Maxine) Cattanach, and Dale (Alice) Cattanach; sisters, Margaret (Vernon) Piguet and Inez (Irving) Halvorson; as well as many other family and friends.  He will be truly missed.

 

His parents, Raymond and Freda, as well as a brother, Craig, and a grandson, Kinzie, preceded Wayne in death.

 

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, at the Calvary Baptist Church, Marshfield.  Visitation was held Tuesday, Jan. 4, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home in Marshfield and will be again from 10 a.m. until service time at the church Wednesday.
