Weis, Marie (12 JUN 1952)

Marie Weis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Weis of Rozellville, was united in marriage to Franklin Walter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Walter of Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.), Route 2, in a morning ceremony on June 12th, 1952 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Rozellville.  The Rev. Joseph Eisenmann officiated.

The bride chose a gown of marquisette with a full skirt and lace inserts on both skirt and train.  It featured a net yolk at the neckline with lace, sequins and seed pearls for trim.  Her fingertip veil of sheer illusion was trimmed with a lace headpiece decorated with pearls.  She carried a nosegay of red roses and white carnations.  Her only jewelry was a pearl necklace.

Serving as maid of honor was Clara Walter, a sister of the groom.  She was attired in a white gown which featured a round yolk of nylon tulle accented by a ruffle bodice of lace over satin.  This was followed by another ruffle and a full skirt of nylon tulle over satin.  Her ensemble included a picture hat of net, lace gauntlets, a boquet of gladiolas and a necklace of pearls which were a gift from the bride.

Three sisters of the groom from Milwaukee served as bridesmaids.  They were dressed in different colored gowns which were styled similarly to the maid of honor’s.  Eleanor wore orchid, Theresa, green, and Ann appeared in yellow.

John Walter, the groom’s brother, and Gilbert Leick, Stratford, a cousin of the bride, served as ushers.

The bride’s mother attended in a pink dress with black accessories, while the groom’s mother wore a navy dress with white accessories.  Both ladies wore corsages of roses and carnations.

Dinner was served to 60 people and supper was served to 140.  A reception was held in the afternoon at the St. Andrew’s Parish Hall, Rozellville.  At night a dance was given in their honor at the Willow Grove Pavilion in Rozellville.

Guests at the wedding were from Stratford, Marshfield, Wausau, Colby, Wis. Rapids, Chicago, Loyal, Milwaukee, Neillsville, Granton and Hartford.

The bride graduated from St. Andrew’s Parochial School at Rozellville and St. Rose High School.  She was formerly employed at St. Marie’s Hospital in Wausau.

The groom graduated from St. Anthony’s Parochial School here in Loyal.  He is employed on his parent’s farm on route 2.

After a honeymoon in the west, the couple will be at home on the farm.
