Mrs. Byron Stevens, 80, passed away at Owen at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, as the result of old age complications.

Mrs. Stevens, nee Emily Leonard, was born at Peshtigo on Aug. 10, 1869. She was married to Byron Stevens at Heathville in 1886. She was one of the very few residents of Peshtigo who survived the famous fire in that city.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Lee Holmes at the Loyal funeral home at 12:30 p.m., Monday with burial in the Loyal cemetery.

Mrs. William Schmidtke of Granton sang, "Nearer, Still Nearer" and "Nearer My God to Thee," accompanied by Miss Donna Mae Gotter. Pallbearers were Harry Voss, Willie Guetschow, August Witt, Ray Prior, Chester Schields and Herbert White.

Attending the funeral from out of town included Mrs. Ed Verhagen of Granton and Miss Isadore Schields, Mrs. Ingabor Hogae and Chester Schields of Greenwood.
