Lenus A. "Leon" Hoeser, 101, Loyal, died on Friday, Nov. 26, 2010, at the House of the Dove, Marshfield. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, Nov. 30, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal. Rev. James Long officiated. Burial followed in St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery. Pall bearers were Kenneth Voss, Franz Grossenbacher, Franklin Walter, Raymond Oestreich, Perry Oestreich and Richard Meyer. Honorary pallbearers were August Diericks and Thomas Hoeser.

 

Lenus Anthony Hoeser was born on Nov. 21, 1909, in the township of York, rural Loyal, the son of George and Barbara (nee Goetz) Hoeser. He was raised on the family farm and received his education in the Loyal area. After completing his education, he worked as a farmhand in the Loyal area. He married Florence M. Beaver on Nov. 22, 1932, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal. They rented a farm two miles north of Loyal, and farmed there until purchasing a farm northeast of Loyal in 1943. They raised their family of five children and farmed until 1994. He also worked as a patrolman for the town of Loyal for a few years, and at Weyerhauser Door factory. They then bought a home and moved into Loyal. His wife, Florence, died at home on Feb. 8, 2000. He resided at home until his death. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, Our Lady of Fatima Council #4963. He had many interests, but especially loved spending time with his family, milking cows, horse pulling, playing cards, gardening, picking berries and dancing.

 

Survivors include two sons, Ronald (June) Hoeser, Loyal, and James (Kathie) Hoeser, Milwaukee; two daughters, Barbara (Gary)  Millard, Marshfield, and Mary Ellen (Gary) Pradarelli, Scottsdale, Ariz.; six grandchildren, Liz (Wade) Vaughan, Lisa (William) Grazek, Sara Meyer, Jeff (Carie) Hoeser, Karen (Ryan) Amundson, and Beth (Matt) Frderick; and eifgt great-grandchildren, Brittany Gratzek, Nicholas and Lindsey Vaughan, Dale and Eric Hoeser, Heather Meyer, Jack Admundson and Lainey Fredrick.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Florence; one son, Dale; two grandsons, David Hoeser and Robert Hoeser; three brothers, Otto Hoeser, Frank Hoeser and Joe Hoeser; and seven sisters, Rose Schuld, Bertha Breitbach, Mary Breitbach, Anna Dougherty, Katie Hunsel, Sophie Hoeser and Tress Wangen.
