Smith, Ruth Ann (17 AUG 1957)

Miss Ruth Ann Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Smith, Route 3, Stanley, Wis., chose a gown of Chantilly lace and tulle over net and satin for her wedding to James F. Kamarek of West Chicago, Ill., on Aug. 17, 1957.  The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Mamarek??, Athens, Wis.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Stanley, was the setting for the ten o’clock nuptial Mass with Father George Mathieu as celebrant.  He also performed the double ring ceremony.

Ione Truse, cousin of the bride, sang "Ave Maria," "Panis Angelicus: and "Mother at Thy Feet I’M Kneeling," accompanied by organist, Miss Marcella Thorpe.

Escorted to the altar by her father, the bride chose a gown of Chantilly lace and tulle ofer net and satin.  An illusion neckline accentuated by a wing collar styled the fitted lace bodice and long tapering sleeves.  A lace peplum detailed the full tulle skirt over net and satin.  An open crown of iridescents and pearls held the imported silk illusion veil in place.  She carried a white orchid over a prayer book.

Miss Carolyn Smith, Stanley, was her sister’s maid of honor.  Miss Darlene Daniels, West Chicago, sister of the groom, and Miss Carol Imhoff, Milwaukee, a friend, served as bridesmaids.  The attendants wore identically styled frocks of white circle embroidered starched net over colored net and taffeta, the maid of honor in orchid, and the aides in aqua color.  The molded bodice was fashioned of net and formed a bateau neckline with a V forming the back.  A sheer cummerbund with streamers extended down the back of the full circular skirt.  They wore open crown profile caps of loop, ribbon tulle and pearls entwined in the same colors as their gowns.  The maid of honor carried aqua carnations with orchid ribbon, and the bridesmaids had orchid carnations with aqua ribbons.

The two flower girls, Linda Shuk and Joan Smith, nieces of the bride, wore identical styled frocks of white net over yellow taffeta with yellow cummerbunds.  White daisy crowns with net styled their headpieces and each carried a basket of white daisies.

Edward Daniels, West Chicago, brother-in-law of the groom, served as best man.  Andy Shuk and Ray Jaswiak ushered.

A dinner was served at the American Legion Hall in Thorp with covers for 125 guests.  The reception which followed was attended by 300 guests.

The mother of the bride greeted the guests in a navy blue dress with which she wore a pink orchid corsage.  The mother of the groom pinned a similar corsage on her grey net over pink taffeta costume.

The bride selected a light green sheath dress with white accessories complemented by an orchid corsage, for her going away costume.  After a trip to northern Wisconsin, they will make their home in Chicago, Ill.

The bride was graduated from Thorp High School and St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Wausau.  The groom is a graduate of the Abbotsford High School.
