Richter, Elvira  (07 JUNE 1949)

Miss Elvira Richter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Richter of Menoken, N. D., became the first bride to be married in St. Hildegard’s Catholic church in that city on Tuesday, June 7, when she exchanged vows with Harold Rogstad, son of Edward Rogstad of Bismark, N.D. The Rev. Fr. Elwood Cassedy was officiant at the 10 a.m. nuptial mass. The date marked the birthday anniversary of the bride’s father.

Garden flowers decorated the church. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Rossi presented the nuptial music, which included "Mystical Rose," "Panis Angelica" and "Ave Verum."

The bride given in marriage by her father, wore a satin gown, trimmed with lace and fashioned with a peplum which extended into a train. Her fingertip veil, edged with a halo crown. White roses formed the bride’s bouquet, and she carried a pearl rosary and prayerbook. Her pearl necklace and earrings were gifts of the bridegroom.

Miss Johanna Richter, sister of the bride, was maid of honor, and her cousins, Miss Angeline Richter of Napoleon, N.D., and Miss Helen Silbernagel of Bismarck were the bridesmaids.

The maid of honor was attired in a white eyelet gown, styled similarly to that worn by the bride, and the two bridesmaids’dresses were of white eyelet sages. Flower girl Dorothy Kolberg wore a white organdy gown and a blue halo crown.

Rings were carried on a white pillow by Jerome Schmidt of Menoken, cousin of the bride. Francis J. Elsinger of Loyal was best man, and Victor Richter of Anamia, Minn., the bride’s brother, and Edwin Schmidt of Dickey, N.D., cousin of the bride were groomsmen. Ushers were Leo Feist and William Hassa Jr. of Bismarck.

After the ceremony, a dinner was served to 50 guests in the church parlors. The bride’s parents were hosts. A wedding cake and birthday cake, trimmed in pink and white, decorated the table. That evening a dance was held at The Rink in Bismarck.

Following a week wedding trip to Wisconsin the young couple now is residing at 621 Twentieth street, Bismarck.

The bride received her education in Menoken schools and attended St. Mary’s high school in Bismarck. The groom attended schools in Marshfield and graduated from St. Anthony’s Catholic school in Loyal. A veteran of 20 months service with the army, he recently has been employed by the Hutter Construction Co. of Green Bay.

To the newlyweds, The Loyal Tribune extends best wishes for a long and happy wedded life.
