On October 22, 1955, Herman Hoffman of Stratford and Gloria Updyke of Greenwood exchanged wedding vows.

The marriage took place at St. Mary’s Church in Greenwood, followed by a barn reception at the father- of-the-bride’s home near Willard.

Wayne Seefeld’s Orchestra from Spencer played for the dance at the Colby Park Pavilion.

On October 16, 2010, over 100 friends and family, from as far away as Illinois and Tennessee, gathered at the Colby VFW to celebrate the Hoffman’s 55th wedding anniversary. The party was hosted by their five children; Pauline Connors, Eagle River; Laurene Turner, Tomahawk; Colleen Graham, Colby; Joeline Strebe, Colby; and Cpt. Herman N. Hoffman, Millington, TN.

Art Petke’s "Harmony Four" performed for the event. Mr. Petke was unable to attend; his replacement for the evening was Wayne Seefeld, the same Wayne Seefeld from 55 years ago. This last-minute turn of events made for a memorable evening.

Herman and Gloria now reside in Rhinelander. They have 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
