Francel, Frank, Sr. (22 January 1873 - 3 March 1960)

Frank Francel, Sr., 87, of the Gorman vicinity was born in Jugoslavia on January 22, 1873, where he grew to manhood and received his education.  He arrived in the United States in 1902 at Ely, Minn., where he was engaged in mining iron ore.

In 1903, he was married to Hanna Kozar at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Ely, Minn.

Together with his family, he settled on his farm in Willard in 1910, where he lived until his death on March 3, 1960, following a lingering illness. 

Funeral services were held March 7, from Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Aloysius Madic officiating.  Burial was made in the parish cemetery.  A general rosary was recited at his home Sunday night.

Surviving are his 12 children: Frank, Jr., Marshfield; Hannah Kokaly, Willard; Mrs. Frank (Agnes) Schnaitmann, Evanston, Ill.; Mrs. Lambert (Mary) Butzen, Mrs. Cyril (Theresa) Kranjc, Waukegan, Ill.; Mrs. Frank (Hedvey) Klinke, Greenwood; Joseph, Augusta; John, at home; Mrs. Ludvik (Josephine) Koschak, Bermuda; Mrs. Ignatz (Frances) Koschak, Greenwood; Mrs. Tony (Pauline) Hribar, Chicago; and Paul, Juneau: thirty three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.

He belonged to the Holy Name Society and also to the Holy Family societies at Willard.

Pallbearers were Joseph Tolaney, John Champa, John Perme, John Pernic, Frank Morgal and Frank Perushek.
