Loyal, Wisconsin (24 December 1959)

 

The W. S. C. S.  met in the Methodist Church Thursday afternoon.  The meeting opened with a Christmas reading by the president, Mrs. Clyde Grambsch. "Thank You" notes were read from Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wetzel, Mrs. Frank Vajgrt, Mrs. J. R. Colby, and Mrs. Claude Catlin.  A letter and money gift was received from Mrs. Edgar Vick.

 

A bill for cleaning and repair of the parsonage furnace was allowed.

 

It was reported that a sizable package of new toys has been sent to Newberry Center, Chicago, for Christmas distribution.  Quilt blocks of wool were asked for, for Nome, Alas.

 

A program of Christmas carols and readings was presented by the program leaders, with emphasis on "Christmas in Other Lands."  The leaders, Mrs. G. W. Nelson and Mrs. Walter Osterman, were assisted by Mrs. W. W. Trindal, Mrs.  William Tucker, Mrs. Ada DeMuth, Mrs. Neil Johnson, Mrs. Maynard Erickson, Mrs. Clyde Grambsch, and Mrs. Ray Prior.  To close the program the candle was lighted on the birthday cake of Jesus and the carolers lighted their candles and sang, "Silent Night," and remained standing for the benediction.

 

Hostesses were Mrs. W. W. Trindal, Mrs. l. G. Anderson, Mrs. Henry Anderegg, Mrs. William Essex, Mrs. Andrew Lewis, and Mrs. Charlotte Mills.

 

The Pelsdorf Homemakers met December 10 at 7 p.m. for their annual Christmas party. After a turkey dinner at a Loyal restaurant, the group met at the home of Mrs. James Wangen for their party.  One visitor, Mrs. Norbert Friske, was present.

 

A short business meeting was held and new names for secret pals were drawn.  Names of secret pals for the past year were revealed.

 

A letter was read from Mrs. Jerry Will, a former member. Games were played and prizes were awarded.  Gifts were opened.  An assortment of Christmas goodies and coffee were served by the hostess.
