Spiegel, Helga (15 January 1896 - 19 December 1959)

 

Funeral services were held Tuesday from the United Church for Mrs. Alfred (Helga) Spiegel, 63, of Neillsville, who died Saturday following a heart attack.  The Rev. Frank B. Harcey officiated and burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

 

Mrs. Spiegel, the former Helga Mackeprang, was born January 15, 1896, in Stoughton, where she received her education.  Her family moved to Clark County in 1917, and on December 24, 1919, she was married to Alfred Spiegel in Neillsville.  They farmed in the Town of Washburn until the death of her husband in 1958, after which she moved to Neillsville.

 

She is survived by four sons, Edgar of Marshfield; Bruce, Alfred, Jr., and Robert, all of Rt. 2, Granton; three sisters, Miss Emma Mackeprang and Mrs. Orrin (Edna) Bull of Janesville, and Mrs. Florence Hansen of Evansville.  Other survivors are 13 grandchildren.

 

Mrs. Spiegel was a member of the United Church.

 

Funeral arrangements were made by the Georgas Funeral Home.

 

Pallbearers were: C. W. Kalsow, Louie Wiesner, George Allbaugh, Jesse Wilding, Loal Cleveland and Ernest Campbell.

 

Two hymns, "Softly and Tenderly" and "Asleep in Jesus" were sung by Mrs. Robert D. Peters, accompanied by Mrs. Jess W. Scott.

Bull, Emma Mackeprang, Janesville; Harold Hanson, Michael Hanson and Ruth, Mrs. Harvey Forstrom, Mrs. Victor Facke, Evansville; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Spiegel, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Spiegel and family, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Spiegel, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kapfer, Everett Handt, Minnie and John Handt, and Louis Paun, Mr. and Mrs. William Tullis, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Williams, Mrs. Walter Lautenbach, Mrs. Carl Krause, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Feutz, and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Kissling and family all of Granton; Mr. and Mrs. Godfrey Laufenberg, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Laufenberg, Alma Center.
