Vajgrt, Frank (5 November 1909 - 21 November 1959)

Funeral services were held from the Loyal Methodist Church Tuesday afternoon for Frank Vajgrt, 50, of Rt. 2, Loyal, who was found slumped over a deer Saturday which he had dragged about a half mile in Jackson County, near Merrillan.

Death was due to a heart attack, an ailment which has taken the lives of at least 10 deer hunters in Wisconsin.

In charge of the services was the Rev. Alfred Atwood.  Burial was made in the Loyal Cemetery.

Vajgrt, who had moved onto a farm near Loyal seven years ago with his family, was with a party of three hunters Saturday. After he killed a buck, he hauled it to the group’s station wagon, parked on the Harry Tolkan farm, located north of Merrillan on Highway 12.  His body was found slumped over the deer by one of the party when he returned from hunting.

Dr. Richard Holder of Black River Falls made an examination at the scene, and Officer Guy Hobart of the Jackson County Traffic Department investigated.

Vajgrt was born November 5, 1909, in Crete, Nebr.  He was married November 30, 1935, to Marie Fencl in Washington, Kans.

Survivors include a daughter, Julie Anne, at home; four sisters, Mrs. Warren (Mary) Farrell, Mrs. Grant (Libbie) Baker and Mrs. Vlasta Richtarik, all of whom live in California, and Mrs. Lillian Kohel of Dorchester, Nebr.; and his mother, Mrs. Julia Vajgrt of Crete, Nebr.
