Henke, Mr. & Mrs. Louis (Gold - 20 OCT 1956)

 

Mr. and Mrs. Louis Henke celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary on Saturday, Oct. 20, 1956 with a Mass at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Father Arnold M. Muckerheide officiating.  The altars were decorated with yellow and bronze altar mums.

 

A reception was held at 2:30 p.m. in St. Bernard’s Hall and a dinner at 4:30 p.m. for 85 relatives and friends.

 

Mrs. Henke wore a navy crepe dress and matching hat and a corsage of yellow roses.

 

The original marriage rites for Louise Baldeschwiler and Louis Henke were performed at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church by Father A. Arenz in 1906.  The attending couple, Mrs. Henry Higholt (Martha Henke), sister of Mr. Henke, and Anton Baldeschwiler, brother of Mrs. Henke, were also present at the celebration.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Henke operated a farm southwest of the city for a number of years before moving to Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) upon retiring in 1944.  Their three daughters are Mrs. Lawrence (Mary) Weix of Curtiss, Wis., Mrs. Agnes Austin of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Veronica Freisinger of La Crosse, Wis..  A fourth daughter, Mrs. Martha Sines, passed away on Oct. 23, 1940.

 

Their four grandchildren are Marlene Weix Bach of Dorchester, Ronald Weix of Curtiss, Peter and Joe Freisinger of La Crosse.
