Schmaling, Elinor Ann (Marriage - 8 August 1959)

Miss Elinor Ann Schmaling, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schmaling, Delavan, came to the candlelit altar of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Delavan, August 8, to become the bride of John W. Reynolds, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Reynolds, Vesper.  The Rev. Donald Wilke blessed their union.

Escorted by her father who gave her in marriage, the bride wore a wedding gown of white Chantilly lace and nylon tulle fashioned with a scalloped Sabrina neckline traced with iridescent paillettes.  The elongated waistline on a long sleeved Basque bodice accented the alternating panels of lace and tulle of the skirt and the cascading ruffles of tulle and lace into a wide chapel train which was designed to button into a bustle for the reception.  Her finger tip veil was of silk illusion held by a double pointed crown.  She carried a bouquet of pink and white feathered carnations secured by a white lace fan with a shower of stephanotis and ivy.

Feminine attendants were identically clad in gowns of pure silk organza fashioned with soft draping at the neckline.  The molded bodice with satin midriff accented the billowy deep hemmed ballerina length skirt, and was completed with matching organza picture hats with satin ribbon and flower trim.  Each carried a bouquet of feathered fugee mums with colors matching their dresses.  Miss Dorothy Schinke, cousin of the bride, was maid of honor wearing aqua satin.  Mrs. Don Peterich, sister of the groom, and Miss Ann Applegate were in summer orchid gowns as bridesmaids.  Miss Jeanne Schmaling, niece of the bride, and Steve Peterich, nephew of the groom, served as flower girl and ring bearer.

Men in the bridal party were Don Peterich as best man and Don Schmaling and Dick Southern were the groomsmen.  Charles Schmaling, cousin of the bride, assisted in ushering.

The "Wedding Prayer," and "O, Perfect Love" were sung by Mrs. Bertha Dederich.  Music was provide by Miss Virginia Klevin.

Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds with their bridal party and families then greeted 175 guests during the reception and dance at the Delavan Town Hall.

The young couple honeymooned in the west, where they visited a brother of the groom.  They are now at home at 1201 ½ Hewett Street, Neillsville.

Mrs. Reynolds is a graduate of Delavan High School and will work as a beautician in Neillsville.  Mr. Reynolds is a graduate of Pittsville High School and is the manager of the Thorp Finance office in Neillsville.
