Vollmert, Max (? - 22 April 1959)

 

Funeral arrangements for Max Vollmert, 63-year-old resident of Pine Valley who died early Wednesday morning at his home, are not completed. The family is waiting to hear from relatives in California.

 

Mr. Vollmert was a native of Iowa, served in World War I and was a member of the American Legion.  He had been in poor health for many years and was hospitalized several times at Veterans’ Hospital, Minneapolis.

 

Surviving besides Mrs. Vollmert are seven children: William of Oxnard, Calif., Carl of Wisconsin Rapids, Alfred of Compton, Calif., Mrs. Jack (Lillian) Kordick of Massena, Ia., Raymond of Oxnard, Calif., Kenneth of China Lake, Calif., and Miss Irene, at home.  Services and burial will be at Neillsville, and arrangements are in charge of the Georgas Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Max Vollmert, 63, were held Saturday from the Neillsville Methodist Church, with the Rev. Virgil Holmes officiating. Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

 

The Haugen-Richmond Post, No. 73, American Legion, Conducted the military services.  Those taking part were: Color bearers, Joe Hartung and Ernest Karnitz; firing squad, Ernest Ott, John Swenson, Otto Dux, Arnold Henchen and Harold Pischer; Jack Stucki, bugler.

 

Pallbearers were: William Gerhardt, Charles Schlegelmilch, George Herbel, Tony Adamec, Albert Meihack and Clarion Counsell.

 

Flowers were carried by Mrs. Virgil Hennick and Miss Edith Peton.

 

Two hymns, "Rock of Ages" and "Abide With Me," were sung by Wilfred B. Galstad, accompanied by Mrs. T. N. Thompson.

Vollmert, USN, China Lake, Calif.; William Vollmert, Oxnard, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Vollmert and family, Wisconsin Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. William Sterkel, Berthoud, Colo.; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Kordick, Louise and Jeanne, Massena, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Otto Peton, Mrs. Gust Baedke, and Miss Edith Peton, Graettinger, Ia.; and Mrs. Virgil Hennick, Estherville, Ia.
