Smith, Everett (11 APR 1924-07 SEPT 2010)

 

Everett R. Smith, 86, Medford, died on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 20120, at Memorial Nursing and Rehab Center, Medford, where he resided for the past three years. Funeral services were held 1t11 a.m., on Saturday, Sept. 11, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Whittlesey. Rev. Ronald Jeppesen officiated. Burial was in Salem Lutheran Cemetery, town of Sherman, Clark County. Pallbearers were Damon Englebretson, Jeremy Kirschbaum, John Kirschbaum, Travis Smith, Ryan Smith and Scott Witkus. Honorary pallbearers were Deanna and Brandon Englebretson.

 

Everett R.Smith was born on April 11, 1924, in the town of Fairchild, Eau Clairee County, to Steve and Matie E. (nee Staves) Smith. He attended Humbird Grade School and graduated from Humbird High School. He married Betty J. Fisher on Dec. 29, 1951, at Salem Lutheran Church, town of Sherman, Clark County. They owned and operated dairy farms in the Humbird, Loyal and Spencer areas until 1976. He then worked for 20th Century Chemical Company, Spencer, in sales and delivery, until he retired in 1986. He enjoyed spending three summers in Alaska, 20 winters in Arizona, and summers at Phillips on the Elk River. He loved his family, all sports (especially bowling). And puzzles.

 

Survivors include his wife, Betty J. Smith, Medford; one daughter, Cathy Smith, Medford; one son, Kerry (Jody) Smith, Loyal; seven grandchildren, Damon Englebretson, Kristy (Scott) Witkus, Kandy (Dorn) Clark, John Kirschbaum, Jeremy Kirschbaum, Ryan Smith and Travis (Christine) Smith; six great-grandchildren, Deanna Englebretson, Brandon Emglebretson, Quintan Smith, Riley Smith, Lincoln Smith, and Jaxen Witkus; one sister, Ida Potvin, Kellcher, Minn.; a sister-in-law, Gladys Smith, Appleton; brother-in-law, Jon (Carol) Fisher, Spencer; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

 

Preceding him in death were his parents, and one brother, Melvin R. Smith.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Everett’s family to be designated at a later date.
