Pine Valley (12 March 1959)

David Pietenpol, in company with a buddy, drove through the snowstorms from Virginia to Neillsville, arriving Saturday without car trouble or mishap.  It was a pleasant trip because the young men carried with them their honorable discharges from the army.  David joined his wife, Mary, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Pflughoeft. They will visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Pietenpol in the Town of Grant, and then move to Eau Claire, where he has been promised work in carpentry with a former employer.

The Silver Crest 4-H club meeting scheduled for last Thursday evening was held Saturday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Robert Opelt.  The program was in charge of Mrs. Carl Smith, Mrs. Elwyn Baker and Mrs. Frank Zank, adult leaders, and Miss JoAnn Baker, junior leader.  Club plans for 1959 were discussed.  Mrs. Opelt served a lunch.  It was decided to hold future meetings Saturday afternoons, starting at 2 o’clock.  The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Sigwal Haukland, April 4.

Mrs. B. Russell Shoults, who has been visiting her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. George Crothers, returned Sunday to Lawley, Ala.

Mr. and Mrs. Leber Haukland and their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Haukland of St. Paul, visited last weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Sigwal Haukland.

Casper Marty has recovered from his recent illness and has been assisting with chores and farm work at the Harold Huckstead farm in the Town of Grant.
