Schoengrund, Racie R. (15 DEC 1880 - 15 APR 1951)

 

Mrs. Paul Schoengrund, nee Racie Rosetta Rose, died in the Waukesha Memorial Hospital, April 15, 1951, after an illness of 4 months.

 

Mrs. Schoengrund, daughter of the late Robert and Albertina (Zedler) Rose, was born at Lomira, Dec. 15, 1880.  She received her education in the schools of Lomira.  In 1908 she moved to Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.) and lived in this community until 1916.  She was married to Paul Schoengrund at Byron, Feb. 20, 1909.  Following her residence in the Loyal area she lived in Randolph for two years.  She then went to Doylestown where she spent the remainder of her life.  She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church at Doylestown, and of the Ladies’ Aid Society of that church.

 

She is survived by her husband, five daughters, Mrs. Floyd (Marie) Janney, Waukesha; Mrs. Vern (Lauretta) Schafer, Columbus; Mrs. Gerhard (June) Spielman, West Bend; Mrs. Lawrence (Isabell) Seales, Troy, N.Y.; and Mrs. Wesley (Mildred) Ballsrud, La Crosse, one son, William Schoengrund, Columbus; and ten grandchildren.  She is also survived by a brother, Robert Rose, Montana, and a half brother, Frank Waehler, California, and two sisters, Mrs. Fred (Dora) Steiner, Lomira, and Mrs. Otto (Marie) Rucks, Fond du Lac.  Preceding her in death were a half-sister, Mrs. Ferdinand (Bertha Waehler) Rose, and a half brother, Herman Waehler.

 

Funeral services were held Thursday, April 19, with the Rev. John Kohl officiating, at the Murray-Zeider Funeral Home at Columbus at 1:30 and at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Doylestown at 2 o’clock.  Tennyson’s, "Crossing the Bar" was read at the funeral home and the Twenty-third Psalm at the church, as Mrs. Schoengrund had requested.  She also requested "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere: and "Saved by Grace," sung by Evaline Heisel.  The congregation sang "Rock of Ages" and "Beautiful Savior."

 

Burial was made in Hillside Cemetery, Columbus.

 

Pallbearers were Paul Patrich, Walter Pieper, Louie Benzine, Carl Bahr, henry Heisel, and R. A. Tobison.

 

In charge of the flowers were Mrs. Paul Patrich, Mrs. Louie Benzine, Mrs. Carl Bahr, Mrs. Henry Heisel, Mrs. Gust Seeman and Mrs. R. A. Tobison.

 

Among those at the services were Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Stout and daughter, Mr. Martin Janney, Richland Center; Mrs. Gust Seeman, Poynette; Mr. and Mrs. Otto Dins, Mrs. Emma Waehler and daughter, Margie, Mrs. Francis Anderson, Mrs. Otis Rucks, Fond du Lac; Mrs. Fred Steiner, Miss Bernice Steiner, Mrs. Fred Scharf, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Spielman, Professor and Mrs. Spielman, Mr. and Mrs. John Stetbacher and family, Lomira; Mr. and Mrs. Reinhold Spielman, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Westphal, West Bend.
