Rizner, William (5 September 1914 - 8 September 2010) With Flag

 

William Rizner, 96, of Neillsville died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010, at the Memorial Medical Center in Neillsville.

 

William Rizner was born Sept. 5, 1914, in Neillsville, the son of Michael and Rose (Kalas) Rizner. He attended the Shortville School and in June 1931 he joined the Marine Corp, serving for four years. he then worked in Chicago, IL, at the Crane Company.  He was united in marriage June 14, 1942, to Irma Wahlen.  They lived in Chicago for a little over a year when they moved back to Neillsville.  After working at several jobs, they bought Bill’s parents’ farm.  He farmed for quite a few years then sold the cows and worked for the Town of Washburn taking care of the town roads.  They sold the farm in 1973 and moved to the outskirts of Neillsville.  Bill worked at Nelson Muffler Plant until October 1977 when he retired.

 

He loved to fish and spent a lot of his retirement at the sport.  He was a member of the United Church of Christ and a member of the UCC Men’s Club.

 

He is survived by his wife, Irma; a son, Roger (Donna) Rizner of Land O’Lakes, FL; a daughter, Elsbeth (Robert) Johnson of Neillsville; and one brother, George (Nancy) Rizner of Neillsville.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Anton, Emil, Edward and Frank; and two sisters, Albie and Bessie.

 

A private memorial service for Bill will be held at the Neillsville City Cemetery.  Pastor James Mohr will officiate.
