Licht, Duane Herman (6 March 1940 - 7 September 2010)

 

Duane H. Licht, age 70, of Thorp, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital, in Marshfield, on Tuesday, September 7, 2010.

 

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Thorp Funeral Home, in Thorp.  Rev. Keith Apfelbeck officiated and burial will take place in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery in Stanley at a later date.  Visitation was held at Thorp Funeral Home on Friday, September 10, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a 6:00 p.m. prayer service, and also on Saturday, at the funeral home, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.

 

Duane Herman Licht was born on March 6, 1940 in Stanley, WI, the son of Herman and Anita (Bernklau) Licht.  He was raised on the family farm and received his education in the Stanley area, graduating from Stanley High School in 1959.  After high school, Duane hauled milk and was a cheesemaker at LaGrander’s Dairy, Bolliger Dairy and later at Badger Consolidated, in Marshfield.  He then went to work out of the Laborers Union #317, in Eau Claire, as a construction worker for nine years.  Duane retired in 2005 from Thorp Nutrition Center after 35 years of employment.

 

He was a member of the Stanley-Boyd Rod & Gun Club, the Stanley Knights of Columbus Emer-Quinn Council #3249 and enjoyed hunting and bowling.

 

He is survived by his father, Herman Licht, of Thorp; two sisters: Janice Licht of Owen and Arlene (Albert) Wink of Thorp; one brother, Ronald Licht of Withee; one niece, Julie Wink; two nephews: Jay Seehaver and Steve Wink; four great nieces: Kelly, Marybeth, Kaitlynn and Kaylee; and two great nephews: Mitchell and Nicholas.

 

He was preceded in death by his mother; one brother, Kenneth Licht; and two sisters: Carol Seehaver and Sharon Licht.
