Riverside Area (December - 1958)

 

By Mrs. Manford Cain: -- The Christmas party of the Big Four School was given by the teacher, Florence Foemmel, and pupils Monday evening.  It consisted of recitations, musical numbers and plays.  Mrs. Oscar Loos and Gayle Booth were piano accompanists for the songs; and Darryl Booth and Laurie Cain played their guitars for several numbers.  There was a gift exchange and a visit from Santa.

 

The teacher, Ruth Kissinger, and pupils of Heathville School presented a Christmas program Tuesday afternoon.  It consisted of recitations, musical numbers and plays, followed by a gift exchange and treats.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Booth visited Helen Sparks Friday afternoon at Neillsville Hospital.  Miss Sparks submitted to a second operation for the removal of splinters from a badly broken ankle.

 

Members in the vicinity attended the program of the Sunday school of the E. U. B. Church in Chili Christmas Eve.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Berg and family of Amarillo, Tex. arrived Monday to spend the holidays with Mrs. Berg’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Freeman Dankemyer, and other relatives.  All the family was together in the Dankemyer home Christmas Day; which included Mr. and Mrs. Chester Seif and daughters of Augusta, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Dankemyer and daughters of Neillsville and Natalie Dankemyer of Wisconsin Rapids.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Doehr and family attended a family gathering on Christmas eve in the home of Mrs. Doehr’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Beil. 

 

Mrs. Myrtle Mueller and Mr. and Mrs. Duane Schroeder of Waverly, Ia. spent Christmas Day and the weekend in the Erwin Farnsworth home, and at the Roy Schroeder home in Loyal.  They and the Erwin Farnsworth families were Christmas dinner guests in the Darryl Farnsworth home in Marshfield.  All were Sunday guests in the Farnsworth home.  They visited Mrs. Mueller’s mother, Mrs. Minnie Farnsworth, Friday at the Bethel Nursing home in Arpin.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Werner Doehr entertained their children and families on Christmas day.  Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Lucien Moh and family of Granton, Russel Lang of River Forest and Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Doehr.

 

Gene Loos, stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood, is spending a furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Loos.

 

Mrs. Harry Cole entertained Mr. and Mrs. Pete Rand of Neillsville and Mr. and Mrs. John Prust for Christmas.  Her daughter and family the Chester Meissner family of Blanchardville were Friday guests in her home and in the Donald Cole home near Loyal.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Eppers spent Christmas in the George Biddle home at Thorp. Weekend guests in the Eppers home were Mr. and Mrs. Lester Shoemaker and family of Peoria, Ill.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Prust and family spent Christmas in the home of Mrs. Prust’s mother, Mrs. Ervin Drescher.
