Fults, Edwin Roy (18 Sept. 1909 - 30 July 1959)

 

Edwin "Tart" Fults died unexpectedly of a cerebral hemorrhage early Thursday afternoon while at work at the Skelly Service Station. The body lay in state at the Polnaszek Funeral Home until 12:30 Sunday noon when it was taken to the Presbyterian church. Services were conducted at 2:00 o’clock, by the Rev. Wallace Smith.  Herbert Juneau sang "The Lord’s Prayer," and Miss Jackie Scheel was organist.

 

Pallbearers for the internment, made in the Abbotsford cemetery, were Kenneth A. Anderson, Robert Anderson, Douglas Fults, James Fults, William Geary and Richard Goldschmidt, Jr.

 

Flowers were carried by Mmes. Kenneth A. Anderson, Douglas Fults, James Fults, Jr., William Geary, Leonard Loertscher, Herbert Pacholke, Eldred Schraufnagel, Alfred Scheel and the Misses Betty Anderson, Darlene Grambort, Bonnie Leichtnam, and Juanita Wiese.

 

Edwin Roy Fults was born at Thorp, Sept. 18, 1909. He attended grade school and two years of high school at Thorp. In 1927, the family moved to Abbotsford and he completed his high school education here. He operated a bulk oil station at Stetsonville for eight years and was presently the owner of the Abbotsford Oil Company here.

 

He was married to the former Ruby Pacholke in St. John’s church at Colby Sept. 12, 1933.

 

He was a member of the Presbyterian church, a former officer of the Chamber of Commerce and was active in sports and athletic events, both in high school and later in life. He managed a semi-pro baseball team in Abbotsford.

 

Surviving are his widow, one daughter, Mrs. Gordon (Sandra) Knight, of Marshfield; one son, Gerald, at home; and one grand daughter, Cynthia Knight.

 

Also surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Fults, Abbotsford; two brothers, James, of Stanley; and Dr. Arthur Fults, Colby.

 

One sister, Mrs. Kenneth (Mildred) Anderson, preceded him in death.

 

Relatives and friends attending the funeral came from Des Moines, Iowa; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Florida, Lincoln, Illinois; Milwaukee, Appleton, Edgar, Neillsville, Cable, Cadott, Menomonie, Chippewa Falls, Gilman, Hayward, Stanley, Thorp, Colby, Madison, Superior, Eau Claire, Stetsonville, Medford, Owen, Withee, Mosinee and Athens.
