Chudy, Mary "Marie" A. (20 September 1910 - 3 September 2010)

 

Mary "Marie" A. Chudy, age 99, formerly of Hayward, died Friday, September 3, 2010, at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam.

 

Visitation for Marie was at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 10586 Dakota Avenue, in Hayward, on Wednesday, September 8, 2010, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial followed at church on Tuesday, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Fr. Phil Juza officiated.  Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery in Hayward.

 

The former Mary "Marie" A. Niedzwiecki was born on September 20, 1910, in Thorp, Wisconsin to the late Jacob and Petronella (Jarocki) Niedzwiecki.  On June 26, 1937, she was united in marriage with Walter Chudy in Chicago, Illinois.  Marie worked as a cranberry grower in Hayward until she retired in 1980 and moved to Kerville, Texas.  In 1999, she moved back to Wisconsin and made her home in Beaver Dam.  Marie was a Red Cross volunteer in Hayward for over 20 years, and also at the Kerville Veterans Hospital.  She also taught CCD at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hayward for 15 years.

 

Marie is survived by three children: James (Ann) Chudy of Hayward, Roger Chudy of Hayward, and Mary Ann (James) Firehammer of Beaver Dam; two grandchildren: Amy (Michael) Throndsen and Jill (Bruce) Kaufmann; two great-grandchildren; Katie Kaufmann and Will Kaufmann; a brother, Frank Niedzwiecki of Winona, MN; a sister, Leona Hadzima of Coon Rapids, MN; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers and four sisters.

 

If desired, memorials may be made in Marie Chudy’s name to St. Katharine Drexel Parish, 131 W. Maple Avenue, Beaver Dam WI 53916.
