Loyal, Wisconsin (26 Dec 1901)

Sheriff R. M. Campbell left Monday noon for Sault St. Marie, with a warrant for the arrest of Stephen Hodges and Mrs. Della Merrill, both of Loyal, who eloped recently and have been located at the Soo.  A sad story of marital infelicity, betraying of hospitality, faithlessness and fool love that stops at nothing, could be told, and Loyal gossips will enjoy the feast for months to come.

David G. Linter sold his farm this week to a party from the southern part of the state whose name we were unable to learn - Dave didn’t know himself.  It is the farm he bought of Joe Marsh about two years ago for $7,200 and now he gets $12,000 for it.  How is that for a rise in land? -- Tribune
