Panetti, Sophie #2 (29 SEP 1865 - 3 JAN 1951)

 

Mrs. Sophie Panetti, 85, a resident of Jump River for half a century, died at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Baughman, near Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.).  Death was attributed to old age complications.

 

Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 6, at 2 p.m. at the Ladies’ Aid Hall in Jump River.  Burial was made in Mt. Nebo Cemetery at Jump River with the Rev. Winston Zastrow officiating at the service.

 

Pallbearers were Ed McVicker, Delmar Houts, Fritz Ekstrom, Peter Grotting, Steve Miller and Claire Warner.

 

Mrs. Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Smith and Mrs. Fritz Ekstrom sang "Rock of Ages" and "What a Friend We have in Jesus."

 

Mrs. Panetti, nee Asmun, was born Sept. 29, 1865, in Milwaukee.  She received her education in the schools there.  On July 27, 1885, she was married to Louis J. Panetti in Milwaukee and they lived there until 1900 when they moved to Jump River.  They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 1945.  Mr. Panetti died Oct. 19 of that year, and since that time Mrs. Panetti had spent the winter months at the Baughman home and the summer months at the family home in Jump River.

 

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Ernest Baughman, Greenwood, and Mrs. Dan (Caroline) Boeckler, Sheldon; and three sons, Walter, Jump River, David, Lancaster; and Phillip, Greenwood.  Twelve grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren are also living.

 

Those who attended the funeral, leaving from Loyal were: Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Baughman and children, Alice, Richard, and John, Mr. and Mrs. David Panetti, Lancaster; Phillip Panetti, Greenwood, and Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Boeckler, Sheldon.

 

The Tribune joins the many friends of the bereaved in expressing sympathy.
