Haslett, Emma (3 SEP 1858 - 20 MAR 1950)

Mrs. Emma Haslett, 91, widow of the late Max Haslett, died at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Haslett, in Fond du Lac at 7 a.m. Monday, Mar. 20, 1950.

Mrs. Haslett, a resident of this vicinity for many years, was born in Essex Co., New York, on Sept. 3, 1858.  Her parents were George and Maria Hewett.  She was married to Mr. Haslett on May 15, 1878.  Her husband preceded her in death by many years.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ethel White of Spokane, Wash., and by the son with whom she has resided for several years, and by six grandchildren.

Mrs. Haslett will be remembered here as a woman of keen intelligence and also for her devotion to many worthy causes.  She served as secretary of the Loyal Library Board, the Loyal Cemetery Association, the local Woman’s Christian Temperance Union, was an officer in the Red Cross organization, superintendent of the elementary department of the Methodist Sunday School.  For 19 years she was recorder of Hope Camp N. 819, Royal Neighbors of America, and for many years an active member of Iris Chapter 264 of the Order of Eastern Star.

Funeral services were held at 8 a.m. last Wednesday at the George M. Dugan Funeral Home in Fond du Lac and at 12:45 p.m. at the Loyal Funeral Home.  The Eastern Star was in charge of the services.  The Rev. Lee Holmes officiated, and burial was made in the Loyal Cemetery.

Mrs. Ray Prior and Mrs. G. W. Nelson sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "God Be With You ‘Til We Meet Again," with Mrs. Roy Pengelly as accompanist.
