Fricke, Joan (18 FEB 1950)

Zion Lutheran Church in Granton was the setting Saturday, Feb. 18, 1950, for the wedding of Miss Joan Fricke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Fricke, to Robert Strey Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Strey Sr.

The Rev. Arthur A. Oswald officiated at the 2 p.m. double ring ceremony.  Miss Wilma Deuermeyer of Loyal sang, "Oh, Promise Me: and "The Lord’s Prayer," accompanied by Miss Ruth Garbisch at the piano.

The bride’s gown of white satin was fashioned with a snug bodice and a full skirt with self-covered buttons down the back and long tapering sleeves.  A tiara of seed pearls held her long veil that ended with heart shaped lace inserts.  She carried a shower bouquet of American Beauty roses with blue baby’s breath.

Miss Norma Strey of Loyal, a sister of the groom, served as maid of honor.  She was attired in an orchid dress of taffeta styled with a round neckline, marquisette yoke edged with a ruffle, fitted bodice and full hoop skirt.  Her hat and gloves matched her dress, and she wore a wrist corsage of yellow carnations.

The bridesmaids were dressed similar to the maid of honor.  Mrs. Dale young and Mrs. Gordon Goehring of Loyal, sisters of the bride, wore yellow and aqua, respectively.  Mrs. Young had a corsage of orchid carnations, while Mrs. Goehring’s corsage was pink carnations.  Both wore matching hats and gloves.

Ceylon Strey of Milwaukee attended his brother as best man.  Mr. Young and Mr. Goehring were the groom’s other attendants.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents here.  Guests included: Misses Margie White, and Laverne Strey, Ceylon Strey, Mrs. Hazel Domine and Charles Schneider, all of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Erlan Strey and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Strey of Augusta; Mr. and Mrs. Holden Leitz and son, Karl, and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kruger of Coloma; Mrs. William Lock and daughters of Rochester, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Victor Strey and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Strey of Granton, and Robert Potter of Spencer.
