Bauer, Frank (25 FEB 1869 - 24 JAN 1950)

 

Funeral services were held for Frank Bauer, 80, last Friday morning at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church here.  He died at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Axel Helm, on Tuesday morning, Jan. 24, 1950.  Burial was made in the parish cemetery, the Rev. Fr. Aloys Zinthefer officiating.

 

Five sons, Roland, Paul, Franklin, Oscar and Lawrence, and Clarence Froeba served as pallbearers.

 

Mr. Bauer was born on Feb. 25, 1869, in Holland, Wis.  He received his education in German and English in schools at St. John.  At the age of 13 he moved with his family to Spokeville (Clark Co., Wis.), where they settled on a farm.  He was married to Miss Catherine Beaver on Sept. 27, 1892, and after his marriage they moved onto a farm southeast of Loyal.  He retired from farming about 21 years ago and moved to the village.

 

Mr. Bauer was treasurer of the school board at Spokeville for 12 years and supervisor and chairman of the Loyal town board for eight years.

 

Surviving are 11 children, Mrs. Axel (Frances) Helm, Mrs. Clarence (Loretta) Froeba and Roland Bauer of Loyal, Paul Bauer of Greenwood, Oscar and Lawrence Bauer of Spencer, Edwin Bauer of Bakerville, Mrs. Albert (Irene) Froeba and Franklin Bauer of Marshfield, and Mrs. Roman (Martina) Renz and Mrs. Ernest (Rosalyn) Renz of Jefferson.

 

Also surviving are 61 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Frank Klimmer of Loyal and Mrs. Katherine Young of Oregon City, Ore., and one brother, Anthony Bauer of Shipperville, Pa.

 

Preceding him in death were his wife, one child, four brothers and a sister.

 

Attending the funeral from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. Albert Froeba and family, Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Bauer and Miss Arlene Bauer on Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Bauer and sons, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Bauer and Mrs. Ralph Fischer of Spencer; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Bauer, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Bauer and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Hansen of Bakerville; Mr. and Mrs. Roman Renz and Cyrilla and Donald Renz of Jefferson; Laverne Renz of Johnson Creek; Miss Florence Helm of Eau Claire; Mrs. Tillie Becker of Richmond; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Trampush of Greenwood, and Mrs. Allan Seefluth of Wis. Rapids.
