Larsen, Inga P. (7 JUN 1913 - 3 AUG 2010)

 

LOYAL -- Inga P. Larsen, 97, of Loyal passed away Aug. 3, 2010, at the Clark County Health Care Center in Owen.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 5, at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Withee. Pastor Bonnie Cain officiated and burial followed in Nazareth Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers were Inga's grandsons, Larry Fravert, Kent Timmler, Fred Zuehlke, Jeremy Larsen and Kyle Gorski; and her great-grandson, Jesse Zuehlke. Visitation was held Wednesday at the Cuddie Funeral Home in Loyal, and at the church Thursday prior to the service.

Inga Pauline Rasmussen was born June 7, 1913, in Fakse, Sjeland, Denmark, to Nils "Viggo" and Karen "Marie" (Pedersen) Rasmussen. Inga came to the United States as a baby with her parents, maternal grandparents and uncles. She learned to speak English in first grade and taught her mother to speak English, as well. She attended Longwood School, Moody School, Frenchtown School and Withee High School. After receiving her education, Inga worked in Milwaukee and Abbotsford.

She was united in marriage to Einer M. Larsen on May 12, 1935, at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Withee. They farmed in the town of Longwood from 1943 until 1971. Inga worked at the Loyal Canning Factory, at the Memorial Home in Neillsville, first in housekeeping, then in the clothing department. She moved to Loyal in 1994.

In her spare time, Inga loved gardening, raising flowers and vegetables, reading, embroidery, quilting, rosemaling and landscape painting. She was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church and the Nazareth Lutheran Church Women, the Loyal Garden Club and also was a member of the Rebekah Lodge.

Inga is survived by her four children, Sylvia (Robert) Timmler of Milwaukee, Mary (Richard) Gjerdingen of Elgin, Minn., Gladys (George) Zuehlke of Loyal and Kenneth (Terry) Larsen of Schofield; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Kristian (Margaret) Rasmussen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Einer M. Larsen, on Aug. 29, 1976; and one brother, Paul Rasmussen.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Nazareth Lutheran Church, 1127 Division St., Withee WI 54498.
