Klein, William (17 May 1851 - 26 Jul 1913)

Last Thursday Wm. Klein was taken with a stroke of paralysis at his home six miles east of this city and Saturday night he passed away.  He was born near Belgium, Osaukee County, Wis., on May 17, 1851.  He was united in marriage to Katherine Perron on April 1, 1878, and shortly after he and his wife came to Clark County to make their home and settled on the farm which was his home ever since.  One son, Mike, was born to them.  About 17 years ago Mrs. Klein died and two years later Mr. Klein was united in marriage to Mrs. Peter Horth.  About three years ago she died and since that time Mr. Klein has lived with his son on the old home place.

Mr. Klein was a gentleman of exceptional qualities for he was capable and conscientious in his dealings and industrious and frugal in his avocation.  He was a member of St. Mary’s Church of this city and lived an honorable life.  He is survived by his son, Mike; brother Dominic Klein of Wausau; sisters, Mrs. Mike Hubing of Athens and Anna Krier of Belgium; stepbrothers, Wm. and Nic Klein of Belgium and John Klein of South Dakota; stepsisters, Mrs. John Schmidt and Mrs. Feltis of Belgium.  The funeral was held Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock at St. Mary’s Church and interment was made in the Catholic cemetery.  Among those who attended the funeral from away were: Mr. and Mrs. Mike Hubing and Frank, George and Emil Hubing of Athens, Dominic Klein of Wausau, John Hubing of Loyal, Jos. Heyder and wife of Marshfield and Mrs. Margaret Aheren of Chicago.
